Patrick (Pat) M. Gagliardi was born in Bay City, Michigan, on December 14, 1950. He graduated from Midland High School and went on to receive his B.A. degree from Lake Superior State University in 1974. Gagliardi was elected to the Michigan House of Representatives as a Democrat in November 1982. He represented district 107, which included most of the eastern Upper Peninsula, until 1998.
